LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we saw 12 more people confess Jesus as Lord, God, and King! We have now seen almost 200 people give their lives to Christ in just 9 months!!! That blows my mind!

Thanks to everyone who hung around to help flip the room at the Convention Center. We were able to get everything loaded out in record time and served the facility staff in a BIG way. A volunteer told me that as they walked through the room next door to us last week, they could tell that the Convention Center staff was listening to the message as they worked. I am so grateful to do life with people who want to be salt and light!!

THIS SUNDAY we have a very special guest, Matthew Barnett, from the Dream Center in LA. You will not want to miss this weekend!

We will be passing out invite cards this weekend again. Be sure to pick some up, pray over them, and look for the opportunities God provides to use them.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY 9 people confessed Jesus as Savior, Lord and King! That is so exciting. Good job inviting people! Keep it up!!

THIS SUNDAY we wrap up the Revelation series, and I can not wait to see how God moves. You do not want to miss it! Just giving you a heads up that you will definitely hear about it if you aren't there.

We are having the service in Ballroom A, and KidSpring will be upstairs. Look for the parking signs and flags to direct you where to go. Load-in will happen at 4am for production and at 6am for KidSpring/Guest Services. We have a little more to set up tomorrow than we do on a regular Sunday. So, a few extra hands in the morning or some people to hang around after the 11:15am service would be GREAT!!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY the opening statement of the message was, "Religion and Reputation always prohibit Recognition of and Submission to Jesus". That is so true and SO GOOD! It's ALL about Jesus and He is enough, regardless!

It was so amazing to see all the people standing at the end of the service, acknowledging the fact of a "Next Step" that they needed to take. For a couple of weeks now I have been praying for one guy in particular and to see him stand at the end of the second service made my month!

THIS SUNDAY is the second to last week in the Revelation series. Come expecting more from these last two Sundays then all the previous ones combined!

We are in Exhibit Hall B this week and KidSping will be right above us upstairs. Load-in will happen at 4am. The temperatures are much cooler so you will probably not even sweat! Most of the time we are done by 5:30am. So, you can come and be home in time for breakfast or a quick nap before the 9:15 or 11:15 service.

DON'T FORGET!!! Wear your favorite football team colors Sunday. It will have something to do with Revelation and the message.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY and the one before were interesting, to say the least. We looked at sexual immorality in the Church. My wife and I had our neighbors attend for the first time last Sunday. We have been inviting them for some time and to see them both walk in last Sunday made my month!

We also had a guy confess Jesus as Savior and Lord at the 11:15am! That never gets old!!

I am so looking forward to THIS SUNDAY and the following two weeks of this series. If you have not been able to make it, I hope you can get to the Charleston Campus this Sunday. If you have been inviting someone and they haven't made it, don't give up!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we continued the REVELATION series. We saw 4 more people confess Jesus as Lord and Savior!! That will never get OLD!

We also saw our largest number of volunteers serve last week. Thank you to everyone who makes Sunday happen. If you are not involved and you are an Owner of NewSpring Church something is not getting done. If you are not an Owner our next class is September 18th at 2:30pm. THIS SUNDAY we will continue the REVELATION series and as Perry tweeted earlier today, "Can't WAIT for tomorrow as we talk about 'Sex In The Church Part Two!' Expecting/praying for salvation and freedom! BRING somebody!"

We will be in the PAC(Performing Arts Center)tomorrow. If you do not have kids the entrance off of Montague will get you to the closest parking.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY was simply,"WOW!!"
At all campuses we saw an incredible work done by the Holy Spirit. By the end of the day we saw 490 people come forward to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior! In Charleston we had 20 people come forward and 1 person get saved Sunday afternoon at Ownership class. That brings us to almost 150 decisions for Christ in our first seven months. That blows my mind! Thank you to everyone who stepped up and invited someone to church on Sunday. If the person you invited didn't come, DON'T GIVE UP! God never gave up on you!

THIS SUNDAY let's do the same thing we did last Sunday. My prayer is that what we saw last Sunday would never get old to us, but at the same time it would be "normal" for us to invite like we did last week!

Load-in is happening at 4am and we would love to have you join us. If you have time after the 11:15 service, please hang around for load-out.

This Sunday we are in Ballroom A & B! I look forward to the day where we need ALL three Ballrooms. We are making the "Holy City" truly holy one Sunday and life at a time!

Serve One / Attend One

We have seen so much happen in the short 7 months we have been a NewSpring Campus. Over the past seven months many things have changed and gotten better. As Owners have bought into the value that SAVED PEOPLE SERVE PEOPLE, we have been able to see and do things we couldn't in our first few months. For that, I am so grateful!!!

Since there is always room for improvement, we are going to intentionally make a shift on our campus. In order to be able to serve the people attending our campus better as well as improve the spiritual health of those serving, I would like for our volunteers to begin to "SEVER ONE/ATTEND ONE"! For one service we are there to corporately worship and ask God to speak to us personally. For the other, our mindset is all about serving. I want you to buy into the core value that SAVED PEOPLE SERVE PEOPLE and we will have an opportunity for you to serve with whatever time you have available. However, a majority of our volunteers will have to SERVE ONE/ATTEND ONE in order to accommodate for our continued growth. By committing to this on Sunday mornings, it will help you to get the full experience of our worship service. It will also allow people who are attending the service to get the full experience of being served instead of having the majority of our volunteers already in the service.

Please begin to let us know if you are available to SERVE ONE/ATTEND ONE as soon as possible. This is going to help us in refining our Guest Services and in fully carrying out those volunteer responsibilities. I am excited for the community that this will create in our volunteer teams as well.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we looked at the Church in Ephesus. We learned 3 things we need to value from the letter to that church. The thing I believe God was saying to me was to be more obsessed with REPENTANCE and not REPUTATION! That's HUGE! I hope you were there, and I hope that you showed up expecting to hear from God.

Sunday was a BIG day in the attendance category for us. We broke our launch Sunday attendance with 612 people. I celebrate that because each number represents a soul with eternity at stake!! However, God is not just GREAT and AMAZING because we had 612 people. He was GREAT and AMAZING before last Sunday and will continue to be so, no matter what. He is GREAT and AMAZING for just who He is and not only what He does! I don't know about you, but I've learned the hard way to remember that!!

THIS SUNDAY is going to be our BEST one yet! I'm not just saying that; I am believing that and I need you you to believe and pray that also. We have been praying and asking God who we need to invite and for Him to do what He wants to do this weekend. I am asking that we see 800 people show up to our Campus and that He would bring 80 people from death to life! That will not happen if we are not inviting people we know who need to know Jesus. I am praying specifically for my neighbors to come this weekend. We have invited them to church before, but we are not giving up. I am also praying for Sue who waited on me at a restaurant earlier this week. I invited her and I'm praying that she makes it.

We are meeting in Ballroom B and part of Ballroom C. Load-in will be at 4am. You should join us! We really do have a great time and for the last few weeks we've been done by 5:30am. So, you could still get home and catch a nap before church starts. If you can't come early, hang around after the 11:15 service to help load-out!

WHO ARE YOU BRINGING WITH YOU SUNDAY?

One of our CORE values in Found People Find People! This Sunday August 21st we are asking you to do just that. We are going to present the Gospel and ask them to respond. I am praying that 80 people in Charleston will crossover from death to life! I am also in prayer, asking God each day to show me who I need to invite. Last year leading up to this same Sunday emphasis we did an Evangelism Seminar. We were not a campus at that point so many of you might know this is available to you. You might also have thoughts that it's just to hard to live out this CORE value and I know this will help with those thoughts as well.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY was, from a numeric standpoint, our biggest to date in almost ever statistical category. We had our largest non-launch non-holiday attendance, largest number of volunteers, and largest number of kids in KidSpring!

All week I've been praying and thinking that if that's what we saw on August 7th, then I can't wait for the 21st. Don't forget to continue praying for people to invite. Yesterday I was on the phone with a guy in our church whose son passed away this week. We were reflecting on his son's memorial service and he said, "I've been able to invite a bunch of people for the 21st!" I pray that you are viewing your circumstances in the same light, as an opportunity to bring people closer to Jesus!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY was, in my opinion, the BEST service we have had at NewSpring Charleston. It was so great seeing the excitement in all the students and volunteers who went to the Gauntlet. Last Sunday sure didn't look like a church that doesn't have a youth group yet!

Speaking of that, we will be starting FUSE in Charleston August 17th at the NewSpring Charleston office. Stay tuned for a post specifically giving details and information about FUSE.

THIS SUNDAY we are starting a new series called REVELATION. I am so looking forward to diving into this book of the Bible and seeing what God has to say to each of us individually and collectively as a church body.

We will be in the PAC this Sunday for the worship service and KidSpring will be upstairs. We will be loading in at 4am.

Continue to be praying for the services on August 21st and who you need to invite. I am so PUMPED about how we will be doing the invitation on that Sunday!

Also, we have our next Ownership Class on the 21st at 2:30pm. We had 27 people join this past Thursday and already have close to 30 signed up for the 21st. God is laying the foundation for the Fall! GET READY, NEWSPRING CHARLESTON!!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we started a two week series called Stories. Our video team and Perry did an incredible job by intertwining a message with the stories of life change. As Perry says weekly, "THAT NEVER GETS OLD!" In fact, I believe if you show me a church that doesn't have any stories then you've got a church in decline and dying.

Sunday also proved to be another scratch-your-head-summer-Sunday at the Charleston campus. We had our third largest regular Sunday attendance, our highest KidSpring attendance, largest number of first-time visitors, and highest number of "first-serves" (Owners serving for the first time)!! WOW! That is not supposed to happen in the summer. I cannot wait to see what is in store. The BEST IS YET TO COME. God is so true to His Word. I have been praying and will continue to pray Ephesians 3:20-21 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." He is answering that prayer. The key is verse 21. If we ever take the "glory" we will not see his power continue to work within us! That's really important!

We saw 3 people surrender their lives to Christ last Sunday as well. That's 114 since January 9th!! THAT NEVER GETS OLD!

THIS SUNDAY we will wrap up the series, Stories. I really love hearing stories of life change and how God is working in our church. I could hear or see one every week.

Night of Vision

ALL OWNERS OF NEWSPRING CHARLESTON:

You are invited to be a guest at the Night of Vision this Friday night, July 22nd from 6:30 to 8:30. Dinner will be provided as a part of the vision event on our campus. We would love to have you join us! There will be no childcare on Friday so that all volunteers can participate. We will be meeting in Ballroom C of the Charleston Area Convention Center.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we continued our On The Farm series and Perry answered some more of our most frequently asked questions. One of the questions he addressed was very pertinent to what we do in Charleston and that was regarding why we do multi-site the way we do it. I thought Perry did an incredible job of giving us some great statistical proof to back up what we feel is not simply great creative thinking, but the results of following divine direction. Every campus is growing, more people are watching on a screen than live, and the campus growing by the smallest percentage is the one at which Perry is physically present. These were points made to show that it's not about Perry (just like it's not about you and me)! It's all about Jesus!!!

For me personally, I love the way we do church. I love the role I get to play. I love being the Charleston Campus Pastor. Perry does an incredible job each week communicating God's truth, and I get to be more involved on the ground in the lives of our people. I love that part of my job. It is because someone took time to pour into me that I am where I am at today. I thank God that I get to daily try and do that for someone else as I lead this Campus.

THIS SUNDAY we will wrap up the On the Farm series. I am so excited for what this final week of this series can mean for our campus going forward. LAST SUNDAY/THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY KidSpring takeover happened!! It was incredible to see our KidSpring volunteers run an entire weekend after just five months. I was blown away by the effort and energy put in to make last weekend possible. Thanks for being the CHURCH, KidSpring!

I loved being able to sing and dance with my kids and enjoy worshiping and learning with them as well. I will never again talk about the faithfulness of God without hearing the phrase "I CAN TRUST HIM NO MATTER WHAT." GREAT JOB, KIDSPRING!!

THIS SUNDAY we are back to the FAQ's off of which this series is built, and I can't wait to hear the question for this weekend. There are also several people getting baptized this weekend. I love seeing people go public with their faith!

We will be in the Exhibit Hall A this weekend. This is a little different than normal. So, follow the signs for parking to direct you to the closest entrance.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY was a great Sunday of celebrating our earthly fathers. Perry's message centered around how amazing our heavenly Father is. "God is a GREAT God who wants GREAT things for His children." I am so happy and honored to be called a child of God.

We saw 2 more people give their lives to Christ as well last Sunday. That is 106 lives changed for eternity in 5 months!! BLOWN AWAY!!!

THIS SUNDAY we continue the On the Farm series. There is a rumor that Perry will be singing! We are meeting in the PAC this Sunday.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY was incredible! Since I didn't get a chance to post last week, let me just say the month of June has been INCREDIBLE. We are growing in the Summer?!? June 5th we had our largest attendance (other than Easter and Launch Sunday). It's amazing! We have seen more people give their lives to Christ the past few weeks as well. I am so thankful to God for what He is doing and how awesome He is!

THIS SUNDAY is Father's Day! We are asking you to break the trend of this day being one of the lowest attended Sundays for church each year. What an indictment on us as men that we have spent too much time passing on being the "spiritual leader" of our homes on a day set aside to celebrate us.

We are going to be giving away a SeaDoo to one lucky dad! Bring your dad and you might not have to do any last minute shopping!

God is at work in our city, and I am so GRATEFUL I get to serve alongside the Owners of the Charleston Campus. One of the many things that Perry has said over and over that has stuck with me is that, "you can't plan a move of God but you have to be prepared for one to happen!" What we have already seen in just 5 short months is for sure a move of God and no one breathing air could possible take credit for it. But, I know there is more. This summer is a time of "preparing" for what HE has planned FOR HIS GLORY AND OUR GOOD!!!

LAST SUNDAY we got seconds with Pastor Robert Morris and it was as good, if not better than the first helping. He spoke on the Principle of First. LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

Let me start by saying sorry for not posting "LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY" last week. To briefly catch you up Mother's Day was great. LAST SUNDAY was so good. At the end of our services I was ecstatic! We had seen 2 boys give their lives to Christ and another 13 people go public with their faith in baptism. It was a great Sunday. I knew that our attendance was really good in the first service, but I attended the second service and was not aware of our total attendance for the day yet. Already beaming from a fantastic day and an incredible message (http://www.newspring.cc/series/more/), I found out we had our largest attendance to date! It was the cherry on top for sure. I consistently fight the battle of making sure numbers don't determine whether or not Sunday is "good." So, for me it was great to be so excited about who God is and all that He had done before finding out it was also an amazing day in the attendance category. Numbers matter because they each represent a soul with eternity at stake, but it can't be the main reason for a Sunday being good or bad.

THIS SUNDAY we continue our series MORE for 2 MORE weeks (Sorry. . . had to)! We are going to be baptizing again and hearing a message you don't want to miss.

Our children in KidSpring will be continuing their study on the fruit of the Spirit. Ali and KidSpring staff, THANK YOU for what you do! You always do such a great job of teaching my kids the Bible. But, this series has taken things up a notch. To hear my four year old and two year old singing and talking about the fruit of the Spirit is blowing my mind!!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY can be summed up by Perry's post from Tuesday...
"To say that this past Sunday’s service was awesome would simply be an understatement. I’ve honestly never seen so many people respond to an invitation like our church did this past weekend. The challenge to confess and repent of sin was so compelling that we actually had a guy in Charleston who watched the service online and literally became so overwhelmed with conviction that he got in his car and drove up to where we have church in Charleston and met with our campus pastor! I absolutely LOVE what Jesus is doing in our church right now!"

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY was Easter. WOW! What a Saturday night and Sunday it was.
  • Perry had an incredible message from Genesis 3 about the Easter story. You can check it out here... http://www.newspring.cc/series/more/i-want-more-than-ive-got-right-now/
  • I am so happy to have a Pastor who listens to God and then is willing to do what He says!
  • We saw 35 people stand and confess Jesus as Lord of their lives on Sunday.
  • That is 91 salvations in 17 weeks as a church!
  • I asked and prayed that God would bring 1000 people to our church last weekend. I asked that, hoping that our 434 people who have been attending services on average, would each bring at least one person with them. Now, I know that adds up to 868. However, we are in a series based off of Ephesians 3:20 aren't we? You guys did an amazing job of reaching out to your friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers. We saw our largest attendance as a church and had 793 people show up to church last weekend. I am so proud that we buy into the fact that found people find people.
  • One of my favorite things from the Easter weekend is the story of Matthew Parker. He was saved at the Charleston campus on February 20th, baptized on March 6th, and attended an Ownership class a couple of weeks later. He is now volunteering in KidSpring. Sunday he invited a coworker to the 11:15 service and his friend and coworker stood to receive Christ! That gets me so excited and is why WE DO WHAT WE DO!!!!!
THIS SUNDAY we are continuing the MORE series and I have one thing to ask. If you brought someone with you last week, try everything you can to get them back this week (especially if they were one of the ones who stood at the end to receive Christ)!

This week we are meeting in the Exhibit Hall. We have not been in there before. We are still in the Convention Center; it's just a different room. Be sure to follow the signs and our wonderful greeters will direct you where you need to go. Also let anyone you are inviting know so they will not feel confused or lost upon arrival.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SATURDAY & SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we had a great finale to our series UPGRADE. This was Perry's synopsis of the message from his blog earlier this week...
" As we said this past Sunday Revelation = Responsibility! If God has put someone on your heart that does not know Christ OR that once walked with Christ but has “strayed off the path” then you are responsible to have a conversation with that person. You are NOT responsible for their reaction…but you are responsible to be obedient to what God has said. Remember what Jesus said in Luke 14:23 (go and MAKE them come in) and what James, the brother of Jesus said in James 5:19-20!

I am SO thankful that God is a God of second chances. As we talked about Sunday Mark quit, he walked away…but Barnabas believed in him enough to not just pray for him…but to pursue him and bring him back to the faith. AND…God used Mark in an incredible way…and his impact is even being felt across the world even today (as we have the Gospel of Mark!) Who needs you to be Barnabas for them today? Who needs someone to step into their lives and TELL THEM that God wants them to come home? (See Luke 15:11-32)"

THIS SATURDAY & SUNDAY we are celebrating our RISEN Saviour. We have spent the last three weeks encouraging you to not just invite your lost friends, neighbors, co-workers, and family but to BRING them.

We have been a church for 16 weeks now and what God has done is AMAZING. I am so grateful to GET TO do what I do. I am also so thankful for all of you that He has blessed me to do it with. Our campus has averaged 434 people and we have seen 56 salvations over the past 16 weeks. In praying for Easter I thought, "what if the people coming did what we asked?" That would result in 868 people at our Easter services.

Most people who would say "no" to an invitation to church any other time, will come at Easter and Christmas. It's also been proven that most just need to be asked and they will come. With that in mind and a challenge from Perry to not pray any weak prayers, I have asked God to make our people obedient and that we would see 1000 people at our Easter services and 56 more salvations.

We have just a couple more days...WHO ARE YOU BRINGING?

Hey everyone, I’m Brendan Mendenhall and I am so excited to serve as the Charleston Campus Discipleship Director. A little about myself: I was born and raised in Annapolis, MD. In high school I met my soon-to-be wife Lauren and we began dating my senior year. When I graduated from high school I went to a local community college then later transferred to Clemson University (Go Tigers!). My junior year of college I began visiting NewSpring in Anderson, SC.

I graduated Clemson with a BS in Accounting and soon relocated to Charleston to take a job at a local accounting firm. A few months after I graduated from CU I married my high school sweetheart, Lauren. As soon as NewSpring came to Charleston, we were all in. I’ve always loved seeing people do life together, so I stepped into a volunteer role organizing groups at NewSpring Charleston. It was in that place of service that I found my passion for discipleship.

In April I came on staff at NewSpring Church as the Discipleship Director for the Charleston campus. It’s an honor to serve here and I’m excited to see what God does here in the city of Charleston!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we had a PARTY!! In Charleston specifically,we had a BEACH PARTY. The band opened with the Beach Boys' "Surfin' USA". The theme tied into Perry's message about how, as Christians, we should celebrate God and all He does. Right from the start of the message he reminded us that it is not about us, but about those who need to be invited to the party. We passed out forks and party hats as a reminder of Easter and the "party" that we should be inviting people to attend.

We continued passing out Easter tickets for our 3 services. If you have not picked yours up, do so this weekend!! I am praying and asking God that we see 1000 people come to our Easter services. Our highest attendance since our launch Sunday was just under 500. I don't think it is too much to ask or pray that everyone bring someone to the "PARTY"! If everyone brings just one person, we can easily provide the opportunity for 1000 people to hear the life-changing message of Jesus on Easter!

THIS SUNDAY we will wrap up our series UPGRADE. This had been a great series, and I can not wait to see how we conclude it Sunday. We are in the PAC (Performing Arts Center) this week. If you don't have children, it is best to enter off of Montague. Depending on what else is going on in the other areas of the Coliseum, you may not be able to get to the closest parking lot off of International Blvd.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY Clayton King preached on the Lordship of Christ and making sure you and I have the correct Lord guiding and directing our lives. I loved his point about how we can't simply make God #1 on a list; it is absurd to think that God could fit on a list. The proper perspective is to put God central and revolve our entire lives around Him. THAT WAS GOOD!!

You know if Clayton's preaching to Charleston, people are getting saved. This week was no exception. We saw 12 people physically stand and say out loud that "JESUS IS LORD" during the invitation. It was a powerful experience. That puts us at 54 salvations in just 13 weeks!!

This past Sunday we also saw our largest attendance since our launch! We have also seen our largest volunteer numbers during the past two Sundays. Once again if you're not doing something, something is not getting done! It's all about you seizing the opportunities for ministry. As believers we are all called to it. Some of us do it and grow spiritually through it, while others just consume and miss out!

THIS SUNDAY we are having a party. . . a Beach Party! That's all I can tell you for now. If you show up Sunday in your Hawaiian shirt and Bermuda shorts, you will not feel out of place. Who am I kidding? At NewSpring you could do that any week and not feel out of place. We have two more weeks in the series UPGRADE. Come expecting God to speak to you and ask Him who you need to invite to bring with you.

We started passing out Easter tickets Sunday. If you did not get your tickets last week, pick them up this week. This is a great tool for inviting people for Easter. I also challenge all NewSpring Charleston Owners and Attendees to come to our Saturday service on April 23rd at 6pm to open seats for people at 9:15am and 11:15am on Sunday, April 24th. Be praying and expectant for God to move mightily and do great things this Easter.

Our 4am Load-In team is doing a phenomenal job getting things set for us to worship each Sunday. They could use a few more people, but we have the greatest opportunity for serving after the 11:15am service on our Load-Out team. If you are available to stick around for an hour after the service, it would help tremendously (even if you volunteer once a month)! YOU ARE THE CHURCH.

Africa

I've told you that I would post about my trip to Africa and have failed to deliver. So, if you've been waiting, this is my Africa post...

My trip to Africa was INCREDIBLE! All of you who know me realize that long-winded detail is a spiritual gift of mine. However, if I start going into details of my trip, I would write a three page post and no would read it. So, instead I've decided to just bullet point some of the highlights and show some pics. ENJOY...

  • Without a doubt the highlight of the entire trip was preaching in the village of Tu Tu and leading a man to Christ after the service . I'll never forget the moment my interpreter told me that the man who had walked down to the front of the church was ready to give his life to Jesus!
  • I will also never forget the herd of goats that came by to bahhh and heckle me as I preached.
  • Going inside a "home" in the village was quite an experience. I was amazed to see how tiny their homes are. It was an experience!
  • Meeting people from the other NewSpring Campuses and forming quick bonds was pleasantly surprising to me. We had a great time together, and I can't wait for them to visit me in Charleston!!
  • Second to leading someone to Christ was seeing all that we've been able to do in Kenya in such a short time. It is amazing to see how God has used us there! I gained a better understanding of 410 Bridge, why they exist, and our partnership with them.
  • Riding in the BIGGEST lime green Mercedes was pretty stinkin' awesome. (pic below)
  • About the second day in Kenya, the kids became comfortable with me. It was interesting to see that they wanted to touch and feel my skin and the hair on my arms.
  • The first day and a half I helped dig holes and build a platform for the Ereri Primary School's water tanks. I do not ever want to have to mix concrete again, especially not "Kenya Concrete." Next time I'm packing some Quick Crete - just add water! WOW! That was hard work!!
  • The rest of the time I got to help the dentist which was an experience. I saw lots of tooth extractions. (I was corrected from saying we were "yanking" teeth out). I even saw a couple of people who had teeth growing out of the roof of their mouth, not to mention the LARGEST wisdom tooth I have ever seen. I haven't seen any until this trip, but on this trip I saw quiet a few!
  • It was heart-warming to see some of the people on our trip who have been before get to meet the kids they sponsor through http://www.brightpointforchildren.org/
  • We saw a CHEETAH!
  • On the last night in Kenya, I stayed in the nicest tent EVER!
It was such a fantastic trip. I can't wait for people from the Charleston campus to get to
experience it. Please let me know if you have questions or are interested in going, and I'll give you what I know and point you in the right direction.

Thanks again for all the prayer support while I was there. Charleston was heavy on my heart while I was there, and it is an honor to know that I was heavy on many of your hearts as well.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY can be summed up with one phrase, "Thank you NewSpring!" Brad Cooper brought an incredible message about the next generation and how our God is a generational God. God is working in and through you and I right now. We might not know just how much we are impacting the generations coming behind us, but we are!

We can all make an "UPGRADE" in our lives if we pour into the next generation. What they can and will do will blow our minds.

Sunday we also had 4 more people go public with their faith and get baptized. That makes it 35 people that have been baptized in 12 weeks. YES!

THIS SUNDAY we will continue our series UPGRADE.

The biggest event to take place every year in Charleston happens this Saturday. The Cooper River Bridge Run will bring thousands of people in town from all over. Take advantage of any and every opportunity you have to invite people to NewSpring Charleston on Sunday. This might be the only chance they get. Seek out divine appointments for invitations. I pray and believe that one day NewSpring Charleston will be the biggest event that happens not only once a year in our city, but each and every Sunday! Can I get an AMEN?

We will have our Easter tickets available for you to pick up this Sunday. There will be three Easter services this year in Charleston. We will be having our regular Sunday services as well as one service on Saturday, April 23rd. Tickets are free! This is just a great tool for us to use to invite and get people to an Easter service. Remember friends and family will go with you on Christmas and Easter when they would normally say NO! Pray for who God wants you to invite and then do what He says.

I can say with all truth and sincerity I have never been more excited about being a part of the local church more than I am right now. We have seen 42 people give their lives to Christ in 12 short weeks. If you have been attending and not contributing you are missing out. God is doing great things and allowing us to be along for the ride. What are you waiting for?

FROM KENYA!!

I was able to jump on a computer for a few minutes so, "Hello from Kenya." This trip is going great, and we have seen God do some amazing things. I will post more details when I get back, but I wanted to share what happened here on Sunday. I was privileged to get the opportunity to preach on Sunday in the village of Tu Tu. At the end of the message we prayed over the church and the leaders of the church. After the prayer an older African man came to the front; my interpreter, Alfred, informed me that he wanted to accept Christ. So, right there in Africa in the "portable" church (Kenya-style), I got to lead a man to Christ! WOW! That never gets old!!

I hope church was amazing Sunday! Don't forget every campus has had their highest attendance while the Campus Pastor was in Kenya. Don't let me down! Let's keep this a trend. Who are you bringing and inviting this Sunday?

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

This past Sunday was incredible as we continued the "Upgrade" series! Perry taught that God's way for me to be successful is simply to read my Bible and do what it says. Two of my favorite quotes from the message were, "You can be as close to God as YOU want to be." and "God is after your heart, not your behavior." I hope you had a chance to read Andy's post from Africa earlier this week. He had the incredible privilege of preaching in Kenya on Sunday and leading a man to Christ after the service there. Here in Charleston, we had 4 people join that man in securing their eternal salvation! Praise Jesus for reaching souls around the world!!!

Speaking of the broader vision of reaching souls, if you did not get a chance to give to the Japan relief, it is not too late! We at NewSpring are partnering with an organization called "Churches Helping Churches." Over $40,000 was raised in our special love offering this past Sunday. LAST SUNDAY we continued UPGRADE with a message that Perry said was one where he wanted to share his heart with the church. I am so glad he did. WOW! What a message. We had our largest attendance at our Ownership class this past Sunday. I get so excited seeing people join and plug into the local church. I have seen so many of our Owners flourish in their relationship with Christ. To see the way God is working in all areas of their lives really gets me excited like almost nothing else does. I say all of that to challenge you to fully get involved in a church. You are the CHURCH. If you've been checking out NewSpring Charleston, you need to step up and plug in. Stop just consuming, and start contributing!

THIS SUNDAY we will continue UPGRADE. I believe if we would all apply this coming Sunday's message to our lives, we could not possibly remain where we currently are.

I told everyone last week that the trend with every campus has been to have their largest weekend attendance the week the campus pastor was in Kenya. I am just as excited to see who God will bring through our doors in Charleston as I am about getting to go to Kenya. Don't let Charleston break the trend!! I am praying for a 500 weekend while I am gone, and wouldn't be mad if we had a 604 weekend. That would break our highest attendance ever! God is moving in incredible ways; in ten weeks we have seen 34 people saved and 31 people baptized. I can't believe I get to do this and be a part of what He is doing through our church. As the church, God is going to continue to use you to get people here and to make Sunday happen!

I'll be praying that God does amazing things Sunday!

I'm Going to Africa


In two days I will be leaving with the March team that is going to Kenya from NewSpring! I can't wait and can't believe it. My overwhelming thought in preparing for my trip to Kenya is for God to show me why I'm going. I know there will be a great personal take-away. I've been told over and over "It will rock my world" or "It will change my life." I'm sure it will!

I know God has me where He has called me, and I couldn't be more passionate than I am for the local church and especially the local church he allows me to serve here in Charleston. As I told some of our attendees at Unleash last week, Charleston is my Promise Land! With that being said, I am even more prayerful about my trip to Africa and how God will use this experience to impact those of you with the Charleston Campus. I know that there will be many of you who will feel the call to go to Kenya, and I pray that through my trip you will be challenged to answer that call.

I ask that you pray for the trip and selfishly for me as your campus pastor. Pray that God would use us in an incredible way to further His GOOD NEWS!! I ask also that you pray for my family while I'm gone. I will be gone for ten days, and I know my wife would covet your prayers as she takes care of things at home.

I will be praying on Sunday for you and what God will do here in our cities. The volunteers God has assembled here in Charleston make it so easy for me to leave, knowing that our Church is in great hands. I will miss you guys and look forward to being back with you and continue to fulfill our desire to see the "Holy City" truly become the Holy City!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we had an amazing Sunday, seeing 7 people go public with their faith and get baptized! It is always such an honor to be used by God and get to play a part in someone's relationship with Christ.

We also had several little worship leaders on stage last Sunday. It was so much fun seeing the KidSpring children singing, spinning, bouncing, clapping, and staring at the lights. I hope you were able to join us!

Perry also gave a challenging message on how to "UPGRADE" our lives in the area of giving and how to fight off GREED. LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY we started a brand new series called UPGRADE. The message was all about Forgiveness. Perry said forgiven people should forgive people! At the end of the message Perry used the visual aid of a key to help us see the "prison" that we can free ourselves from if we would forgive others. On a personal note, last week was incredible for my family and especially my wife. Before moving to Charleston my wife and I prayed and continue to pray that God would put us in the path of lost people. We pray that He would set up divine appointments that we can't avoid. Not long after moving to Charleston my wife started taking our kids to a reading time at a local Barnes & Noble every week. She was taking the kids just to have something that would get them out of the house, but God had set up one of those appointments we had prayed for. There she met a lady with three kids and they began to talk. My wife invited her to church and she decided to come. She came almost every week to our preview services. Around Christmas time she stopped coming and about three weeks into our launch she sent a text to my wife saying she wasn't going to come again because church wasn't for her. About three weeks after that she sent my wife a text saying she was coming to church and that everywhere she turned that week people were talking about God and church. This was two weeks ago and she was one of the 21 people who raised their hands that Sunday and accepted Christ. Last Sunday was so great because my wife was able to sit down with her in between services and talk with her about her decision. We know she will be in heaven with us and we pray now for her husband to experience the same life change!

That is why we do what we do! Thank-You Jesus!!

THIS SUNDAY we are continuing UPGRADE. We have a few "small" surprise worship leaders joining us this week. You do not want to miss this!

We are also going to be baptizing this Sunday. I love seeing people go public with their faith. If that is your next step, it's not to late. You can email charleston@newspring.cc to sign up!

I had someone ask me this Sunday if you have to be baptized to be a part of NewSpring. If you haven't been baptized after salvation and if you haven't been baptized by immersion, then the answer is yes. If you are a Christ-follower and you have already been baptized by immersion you do not have to do it again; you just need to come to an Ownership class and then you can join NewSpring. Our next available class is next Sunday, March 13th. Email charleston@newspring.cc for details or signup this weekend at Guest Services.

This week we are also able to load-in on Saturday. If you are available to help, join us at the Convention Center in Ballroom A from 9:30am - 11:30am.

Sunday is also Ali, our Kidspring Director's birthday! Parents: no gifts needed, but please be sure to say Happy Birthday if you see her! She works so hard to make sure our kids have fun and learn about Jesus on their level each and every week. I know she will appreciate it. THANKS!!!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY

I've only got two things to say...

1. We finished the Make War series and it was the best series we have ever had in Charleston!! (OK I know it's the only series we've had.) It was still REALLY good!!

2. We saw 21 people raise their hands and accept Christ as Lord and Saviour last Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES! I'll have to share some of the stories from Sunday in an upcoming post because it's crazy how God is working in and through the people at NewSpring Charleston in just seven weeks.

THIS SUNDAY I'll keep it to two things as well...

1. WE ARE IN THE PAC(Performing Arts Center) THIS SUNDAY! Park off Montague if you DO NOT have kids. Tell your friends, family and anyone you may have invited. We have plenty of room, so invite everyone you know!!

2. We are starting a brand new series called UPGRADE. I love how God is working! He changed the previous series and without knowing it Perry now sees how foundational Make War was for this new series. Tell your friends, family, and anyone you may have invited. OPEN OFFICE

Three weeks ago NewSpring Charleston moved into an office location. As you would do with an Open House, we are hosting an “Open Office” next Monday, February 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. We would love for you to drop-in to tour the office and hang out for as little or as long as you like. We will have refreshments available for your enjoyment.

This is an opportunity for you to meet the staff and other NewSpring Charleston attenders/owners, as well as give us a chance to meet you or get to know you better. By hosting this Open Office, it is our hope that you will now know the location of the office so that if you ever need to stop by in the future, you can. It will also make you familiar with the location in case you would like to help serve as a daytime volunteer throughout the week at the office.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

LAST SUNDAY was another great Sunday at NewSpring Charleston. If you were not able to make it we missed you and hope to see you this Sunday. You can go to www.newspring.cc and watch what you missed. Perry talked Sunday about the one thing you and I can do to in our relationship with Christ to move it forward. He said the one thing is different for everyone. The one thing is your NEXT STEP! He then challenged us to ask what our next step is and to do it.

I have to be honest. I found myself in the first service really prayerfully hoping for people to realize THEIR next step and to take it. It was then that I felt God saying, "YOU better listen up and think about your next step also!" At that moment the weekend changed for me.

If you missed the weekend or attended the 9:15 service, you missed my challenge at the end of the 11:15 service. Since our Christmas Eve preview service I have felt God pushing me to challenge our church more, especially in the areas of evangelism and serving. So, after an incredible message like the one from Perry this past Sunday and seeing no one respond to the salvation invitation, I wanted to make sure to point out something. I wanted any lost people to know that if they needed to talk with someone I was available as well as many others who would love to speak with them. I also wanted to point out that if no one was responding because we are all saved, then we have some work to do and we need to get to work. This series has been incredible and it is too good to keep to ourselves and consume. We should be constantly looking for opportunities to give it away! Who did you invite to church this week? Did you pray and ask God to provide you the opportunity to invite someone to church? If you did neither...stop just consuming and start contributing. You are the CHURCH! "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." I Corinthians 12:27

The highlight of the weekend was seeing four guys move at the end of the service to go public with their salvation in baptism. Greg, John, Ken, and Dan: I was so proud of your boldness and obedience to your next step.

THIS SUNDAY we will conclude the MAKE WAR series. This has been an amazing series and you do not want to miss Sunday as we put a bow on it!

Don't forget about the tithe challenge for February.

Also, Sunday for the 11:15 service you will need to tell the parking attendants you are with NewSpring and you will not have to pay for parking. Please make sure you pass on this information especially to anyone you have invited.

Sunday at 2:30pm we will have an Ownership Class. This is the class for you if you want to know more about the church and are interested in joining. If you plan to attend, please read the post right after this one titled "Ownership Classes" for details.

Load in is happening at 4am, and load out will take place immediately after the service. We would love for you to help, even if you do it one Sunday a month or every other month!
