THIS SUNDAY

I hope that everyone has had an incredible week celebrating Christmas.

We had a blast last week doing our first ever Christmas Eve services at the Charleston campus. We had record crowds at all campuses, including ours 219 people. We saw over 500 salvations and over 19,000 people attend the 19 services in Anderson, Greenville, Florence, Columbia, and Charleston.

Thanks to everyone who helped decorate to make things look like Christmas. Thanks to all the volunteers who served at a service in some capacity. I know some of you delayed your plans with family to serve. Thanks to everyone who hung around and helped load up everything so that we could get to our families as well.

I know that many of you invited people and had lost people at our services. This was in Perry's blog the other day and I think it was written for many of us in Charleston:

" Found people find people…so THANKS to everyone who went all out to bring someone to a service. Our willingness to be like Jesus and embrace the uncomfortable DOES matter when it comes to eternity. AND…for those who invited someone and they did not say “yes” to the Gospel, don’t be discouraged, MAYBE that was the thing that God wanted to use to bring them one step closer. Don’t give up…if God is still putting them on your heart then there is a good reason for it…if HE is patient with them (II Peter 3:9) then we should be as well."

THIS SUNDAY. . .
We are not meeting at the Convention Center. We are meeting at the
Regal Cinemas Charles Towne Square Stadium 18 which is at 2401 Mall Drive, North Charleston.
The map of the location for this weekend is below.
Please call, repost on facebook, twitter, and email anyone you know and get the word out about the location change.

This weekend has become my favorite weekend over the past few years. I know it will be a great opportunity for us to see what God has done over the past year and look forward with great anticipation to what He is going to allow us to be a part of in the coming year.

It's a can't miss weekend if you ask me! But they ALL are if you ask me.

Miss you guys like crazy and can't wait for Sunday!!!!

PARKING IS FREE TONIGHT

Tonight you or someone you have invited might think you have to pay for parking. That is not the case. Tell the parking attendant you are there for the NewSpring Church service and they will direct you where to park. We have already covered the payment.

Please help me make sure everyone knows this information!!!

Keep inviting and I'll see you tonight or tomorrow!

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS THURSDAY AND FRIDAY

Words can not describe this past Sunday!

I took the job to be the Campus Pastor at NewSpring Charleston on January 25th. My prayers since that day have been for the days when God would use me to see lost people found, blind people see, and dead people come to life in Charleston. So, to see four people stand broken and receive Christ was a culmination of many days and months of prayers for that day!! I was an emotional wreck and so thankful that God could and would use me to be a part of someone's life change. For those of you who volunteer and are a part of what we are doing I pray that you felt the same humble honor that I felt on Sunday. My prayer now is that we will see more and more lives changed but that we would remain in the same place of awe in seeing it happen! THE BEST IS YET TO COME!!

This Thursday and Friday we are having Christmas Eve services. Invite someone! People who would not go to church any other time of the year will give God a chance at Christmas. So invite them.

Because of the Christmas Eve services we will not have services on the 26th. Please be sure to get the word out because we will not be there if you show up.

Thursday night there is an event going on in the PAC (Performing Arts Center). All traffic will flow through the main gates. If you tell them you are with NewSpring you will not have to pay to park. We have already paid for you. Be sure anyone you know or invite has this information!!! You will then be directed as to where to park as normal.

See you Thursday or Friday! If you are already away, check back for special details regarding January 2nd services!!

I Heart My Church

I have changed my profile pictures on facebook, twitter and the blog to the "I Heart My Church" picture. If you are an owner with NewSpring Charleston I am asking that you do the same. Post a picture of you wearing your shirt somewhere in Charleston or just the logo itself. My hope is that people will see it and ask questions that can lead to invitations for our launch on January 9th.

We could put up billboards, send out mailers, have a TV comercial, put something in the newspaper, or use other creative marketing ideas; however, your personal conversation and invitation will always be the most effective form of marketing and promotion!

Let's take advantage of the social media outlets at our disposal and use them to invest in and invite the 84% of people who are unchurched in Charleston!!

January 9th is coming QUICK. . .let's get to work!!!

12/18/2010

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

Last Sunday we had our largest attendance yet and continued the HOPE series. I was in prayer for a few people in particular all morning. I knew that Perry was going to offer a salvation invitation at the end and ask people to walk to the back of the room. When the time came for the invitation in the second service one of the people I was praying for came to the back. It was all I could do to hold it together. The person I talked to was not ready to give their life to Jesus, but I know it's going to happen soon!

That is why we do what we do! So, above anything else that could have happened or did happen this past week, that's what matters! Nothing else even comes close or ever will!

This Sunday we will continue the HOPE series. With next week being Christmas, we know already of some people who will not be around this weekend. If you've been waiting to volunteer and haven't jumped in yet, there is a great opportunity awaiting you this weekend! Load in starts at 6am. Join us if you can.

I did a post on this earlier in the week, but I want to remind you that Thursday and Friday we are having 2 Christmas Eve services. Please continue to be in prayer for who God would have you invite to these services! Lives will be changed!

I am ready to go to bed right now! Can't wait for Sunday!!

NewSpring Charleston Christmas Eve Services

We have had lots of questions about this. We will have 2 Christmas Eve services at NewSpring Charleston!!
December 23rd at 7pm
December 24th at 4pm

This is from Perry's blog post today!!

Top Five Times People Are Open To Considering Matters Of Faith…

  • #5 – After the birth of a baby (28%)
  • #4 – After a natural disaster (34%)
  • #3 – After a major national crisis i.e. 9/11 (38%)
  • #2 – During the Easter season (38%)
  • #1 – During the Christmas season (47%)

Church…my prayer is that we will EMBRACE this opportunity (because found people find people) and do EVERYTHING we can to BRING people to a service on Christmas!!! Research ALSO shows that the #1 way a person will receive information about a church is through the PERSONAL INVITE from a friend or family member. Let’s pursue them like Jesus pursued us!!!

This will take MANY of us embracing uncomfortable situations and conversations…remember, that’s what Jesus did for us!!! I’m praying Joshua 1:9 for all of us as we focus on what this season is REALLY all about, introducing people to JESUS!

read the entire post here http://www.perrynoble.com/2010/12/14/a-letter-from-pastor-p-to-newspring-church-5/

We will not have tickets in Charleston for our services but we will be giving away an iPad at each service!!

Please be in prayer for the services and who you need to invite! Also email charleston@newspring.cc if you want to volunteer for these services.

Guest Post: Matt Alexander

Hi! My name is Matt Alexander and I am very excited to be serving as the Production Director at NewSpring Charleston! I have lived in Anderson, SC all of my life. My younger brother and I were raised in a traditional Baptist church. Yes, we were "drug" to church every Sunday! I started playing drums at the age of 7, beginning my love for music. In high school I was a member of the drum line in the marching band and played in a garage band called "Silkworm". (I didn't choose the name)

At Anderson University, I majored in Human Resources but spent most of my time playing drums in a band called "Six and Twenty" doing gigs for youth rallies and campus ministries. You might recognize the name of our lead guitarist - Steve Barlow(Our new worship leader!!). Steve and I were band-mates for 2 years and roommates for 4 years! In 2000, I joined NewSpring Church and have volunteered there ever since!

In 2003, I married my lovely wife Sara. We actually met at a NewSpring Bible study! We have three children, Lucas age 5, Ava age 2, and Wyatt is 4 months old. I have an obsession with flashlights, tools and knives. I am a techy,
gadgety kind of guy. (who isn't?) I enjoy trying to play golf... but pretty terrible at it. I love to play racquetball, so
let me know if you play! I love a good challenge! I also love a pick up game of Ultimate Frisbee!

We are so excited to be starting a new life here in Charleston! We know that God has great things in store for NewSpring Charleston! Sara and I both are passionate about what God is doing in our church! We have experienced true life change over the past 10 years through Perry's teachings and Home Groups! I can't wait to meet each of you and begin seeing life change happen here!

If you are interested in volunteering in the production area or with the load in and load out team please email matt.alexander@newspring.cc for more information.

LAST SUNDAY/ THIS SUNDAY

I am still blown away by this past Sunday. It was incredible!

We went live for the first time with all the other campuses. BIG props to the Production and IT team back in Anderson who pulled it all together, and BIG props to Matt and the production volunteers in Charleston making it happen here.

I had no idea what the message was going to be beforehand and after hearing half of it in the first service I knew exactly why we needed to be live! I'm not sure anyone could have planned it to go that perfectly. That is why I am glad I am not in control and just follow what God is doing. It always works out that God is bigger and smarter than we are. . .EVERY time! If you missed it this week jump online and watch the message NOW! http://www.newspring.cc/series/hope/hosanna/

This past Sunday the Charleston Campus started looking more like a NewSpring Church with our flags and signs. Be sure to check out some pictures and "like" our facebook page while you are there. http://www.facebook.com/newspring.charleston.sc

This Sunday and from now on we will join in with the other campuses. It will be an incredible service as we look at the "O" in Hope!

We are now less than a month away from our launch on January 9th. There is a volunteer opportunity waiting for you. Please do not leave this weekend without seeing where you can plug in. God will use you to reach people in the Charleston area for Him. Don't miss out on what amazing opportunity is waiting for you!! We want to have 100 people plugged in and ready to volunteer for our opening Sunday. Grab your shovel and let's start digging...we have plenty who need rescuing!!

SEE YOU SUNDAY!

THIS SUNDAY

I am so EXCITED for this Sunday (so much so that I spelled EXCITED twice and in all caps)!!

We have many things we are doing or are going to attempt to do that we haven't been doing!

We are giving info about our next Ownership classes!

We are offering you another weekend and opportunity to serve! (Saved People Serve People.)If you are not plugged into a volunteer opportunity please let me know!

We are starting our Christmas Offering.

We are going to have more people than we've ever had because you are bringing or inviting someone. (Found People Find People!)

It's going to be a great day. I wish it was Sunday right now!

Load in will happen at 6am. If you would like to join us, please do so. If you can't help with load in, we load out after the service. It would also be great if you can hang out a couple extra minutes to help.

January 9th is coming. . .let's get ready!

SEE YOU SUNDAY!

12/01/2010

Christmas Offering

This week we will start collecting a special end-of-the-year Christmas offering at every NewSpring Campus. This is something above your tithe. Please be in prayer for what God would want you to give.

I want everyone with the Charleston campus to know that last year's Christmas offering was able to make what we do this Sunday possible. People in Anderson, Greenville, Columbia, and Florence sacrificially gave. Their giving provided what we needed to move forward with NewSpring Charleston.

Ask God what He would have you give and then give it!

11/30/2010

LAST SUNDAY

We had an incredible service this past weekend! Thanks to everyone who was in town and served to help make it happen. (Saved People Serve People).

I went back and forth with whether or not to cancel the service this past week. Many of you were not able to make it because of the holiday weekend so I wasn't sure if we should just cancel. We watched the recap video from 2008 which is my favorite one I think. After seeing the way it ended, I am convinced that the reason we needed to have the service is because someone needed to have the opportunity to give their heart to Christ. No one came forward and no one came up to talk to me at the end, but I know God was working and moving.

As I said at the end of the service I hope the past few weeks have given you a glimpse of what you are going to be a part of here in Charleston. I am blown away that God would use me to do such amazing things to make His name great. I am so grateful and know that the BEST IS YET TO COME!

We can not sit and think it's going to just happen. We have to do our part and make sure we are where we need to be in our relationship with God. The greatest thing you will ever give to NewSpring Charleston is a consistent personal relationship with God. (Growing People Change). Out of a dynamic relationship with Jesus everything else will flow!

Use the tools we have given you to find people. (Found People Find People.) Also, pray for divine appointments where you can use those tools.

We have a special Christmas offering starting this week. (I'll blog about that tomorrow, but You Can't Out Give God)

I'll let you know more about this coming Sunday later this week as well. I miss you all like crazy Monday through Saturday and can't wait to see you each and every Sunday!!

11/26/2010

THIS SUNDAY

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and that you were all able to have some time off this week.

It was so nice being back in South Carolina for Thanksgiving. We enjoyed the day spending time with family and eating large amounts of food. I found myself very thankful for many blessings and people in my life. The shock was how quickly I've found myself so extremely thankful for many of you guys. I can honestly say I look forward to Sunday more than I ever have, and I've missed you guys this week.

I can't wait for Sunday!!

This Sunday many have said they will be out of town so we will be doing one service tomorrow at 11:15am. We will be loading in at 8am. If you are available, please come lend a hand.

Can't wait to see you! Show up ready to take advantage of your serving opportunities and what God wants to do through you at NewSpring Charleston.

11/23/2010

LAST SUNDAY

This past Sunday was incredible!

We watched a message from August titled "I Heart My Church". I've had many requests from people wanting to watch it again and from people wanting to make sure other people who were not able to make it Sunday get to see the message.

Here is the link to the message... http://www.newspring.cc/series/i-heart-my-church/

Please remember that in the message Perry challenged all of us to read the book of Acts this week. I encourage you to dive in and enjoy the beginnings of church history. I'm pretty sure it's applicable to NewSpring Charleston. In fact the first thing I read after taking this job was the book of Acts!

Perry also talked about two other things I want to highlight:

1. At NewSpring we have Owners not Members. Members have rights and Owners have responsibilities! If you are interested in becoming an Owner at NewSpring or finding out more about this, please email us and we will get you on the list for our next class.

2. There is a difference between your attendance and your involvement! This is HUGE! I hope you have been praying about what God wants your part to be in what He is going to do at NewSpring Charleston. These preview services are all about preparing the army, mobilizing the troops and seeing where God wants to use us. If you have not been plugged into a volunteer role there is an opportunity waiting for you.

My highlight from Sunday was that we were able to have some parkers in the parking lot for the first time. What made this so great was that the Holiday Market was also going on at the Convention Center. Our parkers for the 11:15 service parked everyone. I can not imagine a better week to practice parking than when hundreds are showing up to shop for Christmas, and they were served by NewSpring Church. I loved it!!

Something Better! Something More!

11/20/2010

THIS SUNDAY

Tomorrow we have our fourth preview service. I don't know about you, but it feels like it's been about a month since last Sunday. I can't wait for tomorrow!!

For the service tomorrow we are going alllllllll the way back to August. The service we will be watching on Sunday is a message titled "I Heart My Church." Come this weekend and find out why we love NewSpring. I pray that this weekend you will see Jesus's love for you and His place for you at NewSpring Charleston.

This weekend is another great opportunity for you or someone you know to see the heart behind what we do and the heart of our Pastor. We will also have some more tools for us to use in getting the word out about our launch on January 9th.

If you are interested in being involved in NewSpring Charleston please stop by Guest Services this weekend to sign up for your next step.

Remember 84% of Charleston is unchurched, and everything we do in these preview services is preparing us as a church for how God will use us to lower that percentage. Tomorrow will be the best Sunday we have ever had. Don't miss it!!!

11/16/2010

LAST SUNDAY

This past Sunday was so great! We had over 100 people for the first time. We were able to do several things BETTER than we had the previous two weeks and were able to MORE than we had the two previous weeks as well!

"Something BETTER and something MORE than the week before" is our goal each week moving towards January 9th. Without hesitation I know we accomplished that this past week!!

Thank you to all of you have come on board to see God move in Charleston. I love that Perry says you can't plan a move of God, but you have to be prepared for one to happen. I know each week that's what we are doing.

If you have not gotten plugged in or come to check out a preview service yet please join us this Sunday.
Here are some of the volunteer opportunities that are available to you...
KidSpring
Guest Services
Ushers
Parkers
Greeters
Load-in/ Load-out
Production
Facilities Cleaning Team
Campus Safety
(Please email charleston@newspring.cc and we can connect you with someone to get you information and plugged into where you know God wants to use you.)

If you grabbed invite cards this weekend know that we are praying with you for divine appointments for you to give those out this week.

I can not wait until Sunday.

I'll let you know more about it later in the week.

11/11/2010

THIS SUNDAY!!

It is Thursday and I can barely get anything done because I can't stop thinking about Sunday. I wonder if this is what every week will be like from now on. I now get how Perry is so excited each week about the coming weekend and thinks almost every week was and is going to be one of the best ones ever.

This Sunday will be a perfect week for someone who you have been talking to about NewSpring. This weekend's message will paint a picture for them of what a year at NewSpring is like and what NewSpring will be like in Charleston. Please invite people and get them to the Convention Center.

For those of you who have been to our service the last couple of weeks, we will continue with something better and something more than the week before. We are preparing for January 9th and expecting God to obliterate what we imagine!! That is why these first weeks are so crucial. We are learning where and what God wants our roles to be in what He is going to do in Charleston.

If you have not plugged in yet and would like to do so, do not leave this weekend without signing up for a volunteer opportunity or for our next ownership class. I look forward to seeing or meeting you this weekend!

The BEST is yet to come!

11/08/2010

LAST SUNDAY

Preview service #2 is in the books! It was such a great day, and I love that the Charleston campus is having services every week.

We watched a message from 2006 that was loaded with the vision of NewSpring Church. It's awesome how God can use words given to Perry that many years ago to challenge and apply to us TODAY! Who says that satellite campuses don't work?

My favorite part was when Perry talked about being excited about what we are going to see God do in the next six months. That was my favorite because I know that if Perry had been there live on Sunday, he would have said the same thing!

These preview services are giving us a great time to get to know each other and prepare for our official launch on January 9th. I would love to have you join us, and I will be blogging later this week about this coming Sunday.

NewSpring Charleston facebook Page

NewSpring Charleston has it's own facebook page.

Be sure to check it out and "like" it if you have a facebook account. You can also direct your friends to it for information and stuff pertaining to the Charleston campus. I will be using this from time to time to give you information that writing a blog post for might seem unnecessary.

Have a great day and I'll see you Sunday! (Love getting to type that!!)

Guest Post: Ali Zacker

Hi- I’m Ali Zacker and I am so excited to serve as the Charleston Campus KidSpring Director! Yankee, Clemson Diving alumnus, blonde, amateur baker, runner, middle child…these words can all be used to describe me.

I moved around a lot when I was younger but would say that I grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with my mom and dad, my older brother and my younger sister. When I graduated from high school, I moved to Clemson, South Carolina, where I was a springboard diver at Clemson University. It was during my time at Clemson that I began to attend and eventually join NewSpring Church. Since I can remember I have had a passion for children, to this day my family jokes that “you can always find Ali sitting at the kids table,” and throughout high school and most of college I was affectionately known among friends as “mom.” So, naturally, I found my “sweet spot” serving in KidSpring. In May of 2009 I graduated from Clemson with a BS in Industrial Engineering. After graduating I left for Perth, Australia, where I spent four months doing mission work and attending a Sports Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Youth With A Mission (YWAM). After Australia I went to Mexico City, Mexico, and spent three months doing an outreach before returning back home to the states. For the past seven months I have been living in Anderson, South Carolina, and working for NewSpring, first as the Anderson Campus Discipleship Intern and then full time as the Assistant to the Central Discipleship Director. Now, I am moving to Charleston and I can’t wait to be a part of what God is already doing in this city and the incredible things I know He is going to do!

11/02/2010

LAST SUNDAY

This past Sunday we had our first pre-view Service for the NewSpring Charleston Campus. I am still bouncing inside with excitement. What a day it was to see things with "fresh eyes" and for the first time. It was also a day to celebrate all that God has done up to this point and all He is going to do in the future!

On Sunday we had an Ownership Class for people interested in being a part of NewSpring Charleston. The Ownership Class is the process by which you join NewSpring and are then able to volunteer. We will be holding more of these if you were not able to attend. So, please email charleston@newspring.cc if you are interested.

The next ten weeks we will be preparing for January 9th which is our official LAUNCH! We will be training volunteers and working out the vision we have for how NewSpring does church. If you or someone you know wants to get involved please join us. We will meet every Sunday at the North Charleston Coliseum Convention Center in Ballroom A at 9:15am and 11:15am.

I would love to have you join us this coming Sunday and be a part of seeing God do more than we can ask or imagine!

9/07/2010

What you can do? Come with me to Florence!

Many of you have asked a great question, "Andy, what can I be doing now before the Charleston Campus launches? What do you need?"

I love this question and until now my answer has been, "not much... just pray and give!" Which sounds like a churchy, cop-out answer, but it's not. It's a need we have and will always have. For those of you who participate in praying and giving, you will see and experience being a part of NewSpring Charleston unlike those who do not.

But now I need you to do something else as well!
September 19th - October 24th
I will be going to Florence every Sunday, and I want you to go with me. This will be a great opportunity for you to see what it will be like in Charleston as well as get the opportunity to shadow someone volunteering in the area in which you are interested in serving.

This is how it will work. It would work best if you could plan to go two weeks. The first week you go, you will be able to see ALL the volunteer opportunities. Then, the second week, you will have the opportunity to shadow a Florence volunteer where you think you want to serve. Plan on going and being there for both services. This will give you the chance to attend a service as well as become familiar with how volunteering will work at Newspring Charleston.

Please email me the dates you are available and would like to go. Also include where you think you might want to serve. (Parkers, Greeters, Ushers, Production, Load in, Load out, Guest Services Desk, Resource Center, and KidSpring)

Guest Post: Steve Barlow, Charleston Campus Worship Leader

Hi! Steve here. Just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and to let you know how pumped I am to be serving as the Charleston Campus worship leader! I grew up in central Florida. My love for music definitely stems from my parents who have been performing in various southern gospel groups and churches for over forty years. I spent most of my childhood involved in church and sports. I started playing guitar at 16 and really got passionate about music. My involvement in sports led me to receive a baseball scholarship to Anderson College to be a pitcher. Baseball was my main focus until I injured my shoulder. God had a different plan for me and I began to pursue music with a renewed passion. Around the same time, I also began pursuing my future wife, Andrea, who I met at Anderson. While at Anderson we were also involved with Perry’s Bible study and later with Newspring Church from its inception. We married in 2001 and shortly after moved to Nashville, TN. While there, I had the opportunity to play guitar for various bands and occasionally lead worship at our church. In August 2006 we had our first daughter Evelyn, or Evie for short. Although we were living in TN, I kept up with the amazing growth that Newspring was experiencing. In 2007 I felt like God wanted us to move back to SC so that we could get plugged in again at Newspring. I started playing guitar for the band in December that year and have been a part of the worship team ever since. In June 2009 we were blessed with the birth of our twin girls Daphne and Iris. It has been an exciting few years and it just keeps getting better. We are looking forward to what God has in store for us and for the Newspring Charleston Campus!

Service Watching Groups

A few months back Carly West moved to Charleston. She had been an active part in our Greenville Campus and knew she wanted to be a part of NewSpring Charleston. She asked me if I knew of anyone who wanted to get together and watch the services online. She offered to host at her place if there were people interested. Carly has had over thirty people contact her about watching the service at her apartment.

I will be moving to Charleston in two weeks and I would love to get some more groups meeting together. My goal would be to at least have a group that is available to meet at each service time. I would also love to have groups meeting in different areas so that people will have an option close to where they live.

Anyone interested in hosting please send me an email with the following information: charleston@newspring.cc

Your Name, Where you live, How many people you can accommodate, How you will be able to view the service at your location, If you are Married/Single, Children/No Children, and the Service time that works best for you)

Upon getting into town, I am going to meet with those interested in hosting and develop different groups that fit the needs we have and that can accomplish the goals I mentioned above. After that I will post a list of times and locations so that everyone will be able to attend!!

It's happening! We are going to have NewSpring Church in Charleston. I am so excited and love how God is at work.

Update

Hello Everyone,
We have made our migration back to South Carolina. It's hard for me to believe it has been a month. I am sorry it's been a while since I have communicated with you guys but between getting out of Texas and trying to get started back in SC things have been crazy!! My head is spinning at what a fast month it has been.

I have been in Anderson for the past four weeks starting to get a grasp on the NewSpring way of doing things. It has been so amazing already, and I am extremely blessed to get to do what I do. My wife and I have a closing date on a house and should be making our way down to Charleston about the middle of August. I know many of you have been praying for us and I thank you. Your prayers have covered us every step of the way. Thanks!

I do have some information for you. We have set a working timeline and have a plan in place for the launch of the Charleston Campus. I am so excited for the way God has set us up for success. I always prefer doing things right than just doing things!

I will be in touch soon with more information.

See you soon in Charleston!

Charleston Started Without Me!!

This is an email I received last night. WOW!!! I love that people have started meeting and watching services together. Thanks to whoever in Anderson took care of the bulletin hook up!! I am so excited to get there and see what God has in store for NewSpring Charleston.

Hey everyone!
I am so excited to see the number of people responding that are interested in getting together before the Charleston Newspring campus opens! This morning I had five people over to my apartment to watch the web service and it was SO awesome getting to meet some of you and worshipping together. I'm really looking forward to next Sunday having you all over again and continuing to build this fellowship! Clayton preached an awesome message today and I am so excited to see what the rest of this series has in store for us. Also, with the help of some really amazing people at the Anderson campus, we were able to have bulletins this morning and I'm hoping we can do the same next week!
Please let me know if you weren't able to come this Sunday, but are interested in coming next Sunday or in the future and I will get you directions.

I can't wait to meet each and every one of you and I hope you all have a blessed week!
In Christ,
Carly West

If you want information about this or if you have a group getting together please email me at charleston@newspring.cc once again I can't wait to get to CHARLESTON!!!

Getting Together

I have been asked by several people about assembling some sort of get together with people in Charleston interested in NewSpring Charleston. My wife and I will have and organize several times to do this once we get there. We will not be in Charleston until August, though, so in the meantime many have offered their houses or apartments for people to meet one another and even watch the services online together.

I think that is awesome!

But, I don't want to send your information without you giving me permission. If this is something you would like to be a part of and you wouldn't mind me sending an email out with your information on it, please let me know. Send me an email to charleston@newspring.cc with "Getting Together" in the subject line.

REPOST: NAMES

For those of you just joining and to keep this fresh on our hearts and minds!

This post you will see over and over again!! "It's why we do what we do"

From April:
Charleston Campus: last night Perry's post had a very staggering statistic that 84% of Charleston is unchurched. We are the highest percentage of all the NewSpring cities. As a church we will always be about those who have not encountered Christ. Perry said at the BiLo Center as hundreds flooded the front at the invitation, "It's why we do what we do!"

With that being said, I would like for you to send me names. If you live in Charleston or know someone in Charleston who we can pray that NewSpring Charleston will introduce to Jesus, please email me their name(s)!

Email me at charleston@newspring.cc (Please put NAMES in the subject line) also go to www.newspring.cc and enter them there. I am going to put the first name of each person sent to me on the blog so we can all begin praying for them by name.

"Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest." John 4:35

84% unchurched. . . no reason to wait! We don't need a building to be His Church. Let's go to work!!

TUESDAY!!

I will be in Charleston on Tuesday. I am only going to be there for few hours so I don't have time to get lunch. I would love to say hello if you are available and want to stop by.

I will be at Starbucks
(5060 International Blvd
North Charleston, SC 29406)
from 12:30pm - 1:45pm.

If you come, please buy some coffee or something. Let's not be the annoying Christians that packed out the Starbucks and bought two drinks. Instead let's make them ask what's going on and make Jesus famous, not ashamed of us!!

I look forward to meeting some of you!

See you Tuesday!

Got My Attention

This really jumped off the page at me this morning as I was reading. I hope it speaks to you as well.

Make it personal! Read it as if you were writing it!

12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service. 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. I Timothy 1:12-17

This was my prayer today. I hope it can and will be your's as well!

Thankful for His grace and humble to be in His service.

Pray for...

There are a few things I want to bring to your attention to pray for this week.

The first is a proposal.
I'm hoping to hear this week from a location that we have looked at for the Charleston Campus. They have been putting together numbers and estimates for us to use their facility and have told me we should hear from them soon. Pray that we get the proposal this week ('cause I'm impatient) and that the price and availability will work for us. That's all I'll tell you for now about that.

The second is for some specific people from our other campuses.
I have been blown away by the responses I have received from people wanting to be a part of the church and help NewSpring Charleston. I can't wait to get going.
Some of the stories that have really floored me are those from people who currently attend one of our other campuses who have felt that God has called them to move to Charleston. I've received emails from every campus with people doing this. They are selling houses, quitting jobs, and moving their families in obedience to what God wants. I love that amount of faith. I try to live everyday asking the question: God what do you want me to do today? I don't succeed in being obedient every day, but I do try!
I ask that you pray for these families as they sell houses and look for jobs. Pray for them to hang in there and to experience the great faithfulness of our God as a result.

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Philippians 4:19-20

Easter

This has been an interesting weekend for me. For the last 10 years the holiday service schedule is not one I would say I looked forward to. I remember one year we had something like 18 Christmas Eve services, and in the moment I thought only about the number. I missed out many years on the thought of the opportunity and the need for that many extra services.

One of my favorite phrases is, "You don't know what you've got till it's gone." This Easter I find myself thinking a lot about that phrase. As I read on Twitter today about all the amazing things God did in His church, I only attended one service. For me it felt like an athlete must feel when all he knows is the game he loves and plays everyday, but he has been sidelined by an injury. I am not injured, but this Easter I was "out of the game". I was a spectator only. I missed it! I can not wait to get back in the "game"!

Charleston Campus: in these moments of missing out today I praised God for what He was doing, and I prayed for next Easter when will be experiencing our first Easter together. That blows me away to think about that. This time next year we will be meeting together. I don't know when will start yet, but I know it will be before Easter. God has some great things in store, and I'm excited I get to be a part of it. I hope you were able to celebrate our RISEN Savior today.

The best is yet to come!!

The Story of Zac Smith

If you haven't seen this, I want to make sure you do!

"TO GOD BE THE GLORY"
I have thought about that phrase just about everyday after seeing this for the first time. I know this will have an impact on your life in some way, and I ask that you pray for Zac and his family as it ministers to you.

We are over the century mark!!

Last night we topped 100 names!

Keep them coming and keep praying!

If you sent names, your job isn't over; it just started. Now, pray God would present divine appointments for you to share or talk with these people about your salvation experience. When the moment presents itself (and it will), just share your story. God will show up, you will say things you could never have said, and the name of Jesus will be made famous!! Take courage in knowing that there are people praying for you.

When this happens please let me know about it!

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, I Peter 3:15

Becoming the Charleston Campus Pastor at NewSpring

I honestly believe that the process of me coming on staff at NewSpring started back in the late 90's and in Charleston. I didn't know it at the time and NewSpring didn't exist, but looking at things now that's when it started. One of my roommates in college grew up in Anderson and had been in Perry's youth group before leaving to go to college at CSU. I got the chance to meet Perry back then when he came down to visit my roommate one weekend. I also got to spend some time with him when my roommate got married as well.

After living in Texas for about a year I got a call from my college roommate telling me that he and his wife were moving out to Texas as well. He was going to be attending seminary working on a master's degree. I immediately invited them to Fellowship and started working on ways to get him a job with me in the Jr. High ministry. He was offered a job and we worked together for a few years. While we were working at Fellowship, Perry had started NewSpring and from time to time would fly out to Texas to attend a conference or ask questions about Fellowship's beginnings, programs, and ministry in general.

Once seminary was complete, my roommate got offered a job back home in Anderson to join the staff of NewSpring. We continue to keep in touch and I have been able to see all the great things he has been a part of at NewSpring. A couple of years ago he knew God was calling him to start a church in Florence and is now the NewSpring Campus Pastor in Florence. (Are you keeping up with connecting the dots? Love how God has a plan!)

I had thought about moving back to South Carolina about once a year since moving to Texas, but it was never what God wanted. The last year and a half of my employment I could not stop thinking that God wanted me to resign. As my wife and I talked and prayed about it, it just wouldn't go away. In April of last year we knew it was what we were supposed to do. So, we prayed knowing that this possibly meant neither of us would have a job, but that I was going to resign on July 17th (our ten year wedding anniversary.) God had shown Himself so faithful in our first ten years. What a way to start the next! We were not as excited as that sounds!! We were scared, afraid, and wondering if were we foolish?

On July 17th I resigned from my job with no job to go to and no idea what was next. I knew that God would be faithful and I prayed that He would show me what He wanted next for me. I never called about a job or answered an add. I knew God would provide. From July to January I received about ten calls about job opportunities. My answer was always the same: I don't know if I'm interested, but I would love to hear what you have to say. I knew God would show me what He wanted me to do when He wanted to. He would be FAITHFUL!

The first week of December my wife and I talked about leaving Texas. We knew our time was up here. That night we prayed that God would move us, and if it could be closer to family that would be great! A couples days later I got an email about a job in Atlanta. Two weeks later I got another email about another job in Atlanta, and three weeks later a text from Perry asking me if I had ever thought about working at NewSpring. (That's a funny story I'll save for another time.)

I am blown away that God would use me to do anything in His church much less help start one in Charleston. God is faithful and He will never leave you or forsake you!

That's how I got to NewSpring!
